Standing at the plate, looking for that gopherball

This is my first post in my first blog. . .so of course I have blogger's block. :-(
Lots on my mind, but it just isn't making it down to my fingers quite yet. . .

In 6 days it will be official; I will be an x-Microsoft employee. Over 2 months ago I submitted my resignation after a 12+ year career at MS. I have worked/studied some aspect of IT for the past 21 years, so I think it is time for a change of course.

On October 8th I will be a full time member of the staff at USPhotoLab, our family business. With the help of family, friends and very talented business partners, I will be working on the sales and marketing plan for the company. This is a very exciting change for me, but quite risky as well. Walking away from a very secure, challenging and rewarding job at MS is not easy to do. Some of the most talented people that I have ever met or worked with are my co-workers (former) at Microsoft, and I will miss learning from them everyday.

Just wanted to get this blog off the ground tonight! I'd like to use it to share my thoughts and stories about my experience of leaving corporate America and going out on my own as a small business owner. I see this new chapter in my career as a gopherball, just waiting to be hit out of the park! Wish me luck. . . .just noticed that it will be my birthday in 6 minutes. Happy Birthday Libras.
